WELLNESS EXAMS

An overall general health assessment. This accompanies all annual vaccinations.

SURGERY
Includes several soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
SPAY AND NEUTER
Spay and neuter packages are available. All pets presented for elective procedures must be up to date on vaccinations.
ALLERGY TREATMENT
Allergy consults and testing are available.
COMPREHENSIVE GERIATRIC WORK-UPS
Most pets are considered senior at the age of 7 years and require more in-depth care. Senior care usually includes annual blood work.
CREMATION SERVICES
Group or private cremations with the ashes returned are available.
DIABETES MANAGEMENT
Diabetes in pets is commonly treated with insulin injections. Diet changes are discussed when a pet is diagnosed with diabetes.
DIGITAL RADIOLOGY
Digital radiology in-house allows CVC to get immediate answers and gives us the ability to send those images to a specialist if needed.
HEARTWORM PREVENTION & TESTING
Heartworms can be deadly to dogs. After your dog is tested for Heartworm and the test is negative, a preventative should be started.
IN-HOUSE LABORATORY
In-house blood analyzers help to give quick results. Reference laboratory testing helps us do more extensive testing if needed.
INTESTINAL BLOCKAGE
Removal of a foreign body from the intestinal tract is a complicated procedure that needs immediate help. We can diagnose and treat this in most cases.
ORTHOPEDIC SERVICES
Several orthopedic procedures are performed at CVC including but not limited to FHO, ALC repair and amputations. We also have the ability to refer your pet to a specialist if needed.
PAIN MANAGEMENT
Acute or chronic pain needs to be addressed to keep your pet comfortable. Please use caution when using human medications, because many can do more harm than good.
EMERGENCY CARE
Emergency visits are welcome during operating hours. Please call ahead if possible. After hour emergency visits need to call the clinic phone number. If Dr. Fields is available, a visit will be scheduled. When Dr. Fields is unavailable or out of the area, after hour emergencies are referred to Iowa State University Veterinary Hospital at 515-294-4900.
MICROCHIPPING
A permanent form of identification can help return a lost pet to their owner. Microchipping is quick and easy for dogs and cats.
VACCINATIONS
During a wellness exam, your pets risk factors are considered when developing a vaccine protocol.
DENTAL CARE
Over 80% of dogs over the age of 3 years have dental disease. And periodontal disease in cats is also very common. To check your pets teeth, “FLIP THE LIP”.
CONSULTATIONS
Consults about medical or behavior issues can be very important when developing a treatment plan for your pet.
CYTOLOGY
In-house cytology and referral laboratory services are available when needed.
EUTHANASIA
It’s never an easy decision to make, but we are here to help you. Call for an euthanasia consult if needed.

In-house fecal analysis or referral laboratory testing available.

Advising pet owners on the medical care of their pets is the most important thing we do at CVC.
EXTERNAL PARASITE PREVENTION
Fleas, ticks, mange, lice and other external parasites can not only make you pet uncomfortable, they can make your pet sick. CVC carries safe and effective parasite control.
INTERNAL MEDICINE
We try to diagnosis severe, chronic illnesses by using your pet’s history, clinical signs, lab results and other testing to develop a treatment plan.
PRESCRIPTION FOODS
Prescription foods are needed to aid in many pet illnesses and we have several options available.

Our in-house pharmacy will have your pet’s medications conveniently available when you need them.
